Job Description
For the part-time Worship Director position:
- Develop and lead all band leaders and band members at West
- Develop and lead the Audio, Visual, and Service Director ministry team leaders
- Ensure the worship band is scheduled and prepared for all Sunday services
- Play in the worship band at least 3 times per month
- Lead in the worship band at least 2 times per month
- Miss Sunday service no more than 6 times a year
- First to arrive at Sunday service to help with general set up
- Last to leave Sunday service to help with general tear-down
- Lead (or delegate) the pre-service meeting between the band, A/V, and preaching pastor
- Build rehearsal schedule to account for lay band members (currently pre-service)
- Rehearse individually to grow as a musician and prepare for rehearsals and Sundays
- Rehearse speaking parts to the point of comfortable, clear, consistent speaking
- Schedule band leaders and band members each month in Planning Center
- Collaborate with the local pastor to determine worship songs each week
- Collaborate with the local pastor to create liturgical elements each week
- Routine check-ins with the Central Worship Director for feedback and mentoring
- Provide prompt feedback for each band leader and band member
- Build, track, and manage the budget associated with Worship and Audio / Visual
- Willing to lead worship at all Special Events outside of Sunday worship
- Willing to lead worship at Sunday services held at Apex Community Park
- Participate in worship cohorts with other Vintage locations (as time allows)
- Participate in song-writing cohorts with other Vintage locations (as time allows)
- Spend time in regular prayer and reading of Scripture
Qualifications
For the part-time Worship Director position:
- Pursue active membership at West
- Meet the qualifications of a Deacon found in 1 Timothy 3:8-13
- Pursue active membership in a West Community Group
- Personal commitment to seeing Jesus’ mission fulfilled through the local church
- Humble commitment to continually learn, grow, and improve as a servant leader
- Desire to lead other men, women, and teams
- Ability to lead teams largely composed of volunteers / lay congregants
- High capacity for responsibility
- Ability to prioritize and delegate responsibilities as appropriate
- Commitment to excellence and attention to detail
- Professional and prompt communication tendencies
- Strong administrative skill set
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to set clear expectations and provide accountability
- Experience (or ability to learn) Planning Center
- Experience leading worship (either within or outside of Vintage Church)
- Experience developing liturgical elements for a Sunday worship gathering
- Shared philosophy of corporate worship and methodology with the West elders
- Ability to lead both vocally and instrumentally
- Experience with original song writing or a desire to explore
- Actively engaged with the music scene in western Wake County
