Overview

Context

Celebration Baptist Church (SBC) is a growing community of faith in Tallahassee, Florida. The church began nearly 40 years ago and weekend attendance currently runs between 800-1100. Our worship format is contemporary and our congregation is composed of young to middle aged professionals. Celebration enjoys strong demographics and has just purchased a new piece of property adjacent to our current facilities that will allow us to construct a new, 1100 seat worship center. Tallahassee is one of the nation’s best educated cities. In addition to 300,000 residents, the city also hosts over 50,000 university students. Our community is accustomed to outstanding education opportunities and public services. Recently four of our area high schools were listed among the best high schools in America. Several local elementary schools are national blue ribbon school winners. This is a family oriented, professional environment.

Celebration Baptist Church is an excellent work environment and has been named a Best Christian Workplace on multiple occasions. Most of our staff have enjoyed long tenures.

The Missions Pastor is expected to incite passion for an effective, globally oriented ministry that will effectively educate and mobilize the people of Celebration into evangelism and service around the world in the following ways:

International Missions

·       Develop new partnerships with overseas partners that will provide opportunities for Celebration members to fulfill the great commission. Partners who can involve our people in compelling, kingdom-oriented service on the field is a must. Field Representatives from the International Mission Board (SBC) are preferred, however, if IMB representatives are unavailable, partnerships with field representatives from other agencies or local national mission partners may be established.

·       Develop pipelines to ensure that financial and prayer resources are directed to the field in ways that are strategic and catalytic.  Accountability on the field on how these resources are being utilized is a must. Going, praying and giving should align in every partnership.

·       Create opportunities for our congregation to interact with field personnel here at Celebration.

·       Lead overseas teams on occasion. Note that developing lay leadership to head mission teams is preferred. Ideally, international travel should be utilized to develop new partnerships or lead teams into new or at-risk environments.

·       Raise awareness of the needs of the unchurched around the world.

·       Incite prayer for global missions among the people of Celebration.

·       Raise up a generation of career international missionaries from Celebration.

·       Establish Celebration as a church that demonstrates leadership in ministering to the underserved in its own community by directing human and financial resources at the challenges facing Tallahassee and surrounding areas.

·       Enhance Celebration’s capacity for compassion by engaging our people into ongoing opportunities for service.

·       Provide leadership in evangelism and inciting a heart for evangelism in the hearts of the people of Celebration.

In addition:

·       Pastoral care and general church leadership, preach on occasion, hospitals, etc. Just what you’d expect out of ministry!

Qualifications:

Celebration is no stranger to missions. We have sent numerous teams overseas and have an excellent reputation in our community. We’ve developed an exceptional relationship with our public schools and work well with community benevolence organizations. The missions pastor/leader will further those relationships and leverage them for mobilization. Applicants should be diligent, entrepreneurial and deeply committed to excellence. In addition, the candidate must be highly creative and have strong leadership, visioning and strategic skills. Innovation, optimism, enthusiasm and hope are words that must be able to describe the ideal candidate.  The candidate must be able to bring the best out of those around him/her. ​

In Addition:

·       Fully Supportive of Southern Baptist Doctrine

·       Masters Degree preferred

·       4 years career overseas experience preferred

·       2 years career local church experience preferred

·       Team player who brings out the best of those around him/her. ​
