This position is unique in that we are looking for an Associate Pastor with a master of divinity who also wants to serve our youth in the church as a Youth Minister.

The purpose of the Associate Pastor is to support the Senior Pastor in his duties as well as have designated duties of his own. He is also expected to be “second in charge” of spiritual operations of the church and to fill in for the Senior Pastor and his duties when absent.

The purpose of the Minister of Youth is to encourage, equip, teach and inspire youth with the Word of God and to be a key influence in their lives.  The Minister of Youth will work diligently to mentor, recruit and influence as many youth as possible in and around the Worland community to participate in youth activities.


1.       Teaching and Preaching

a.       Preach in the senior pastor’s absence

b.       Weekly teaching of an Adult Sunday School class

c.       On occasion assist at the nursing home worship service

2.       Pastoral

a.       Assisting the Senior Pastor with visitation, including nursing home, hospital and home visits

b.       Performing pastoral counseling, mentoring and personal discipleship

c.       Administering the Lord’s Supper to shut-ins

3.       Worship

a.       Weekly participation in leading a portion of the worship service

b.       Performing weddings, baptisms and funerals as directed by the Senior Pastor

c.       Assisting with administration of the Lord’s Supper in the worship service

d.       Periodic involvement with praise teams (if applicable)

e.       Coordinate with the music direction for all music events

4.       Administrative

a.       Regular meetings with the senior pastor to assist in church planning and coordination

b.       Planning and coordination of certain special ministry events

c.       Editing and proofreading weekly church newsletters and Sunday bulletins

d.       Developing new ministries in the church

e.       Participating in monthly consistory meetings

5.       Perform all other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Consistory


1.       Conduct weekly youth meetings for ages Jr. High through High School

2.       In coordination with the Sunday School Superintendent, provide teaching for Jr. High and High School youth; and college age youth in the summer

3.       Supervise the Children’s Church and Vacation Bible School

4.       Provide activities for youth as needed for health of the program

5.       Plan special events

6.       Keep youth and youth parents updated weekly on youth events and happenings on social media

7.       Build relationships with families of youth

8.       Develop programs designed to help young people in areas of morality and ethics

9.       Provide spiritual counseling for youth and families of youth when necessary

10.   Provide pastoral care to youth

11.   Keep an accurate accounting of all youth income and expenditures and keep event cash flow statements for each special revenue activity

12.   Develop fundraising activities to help finance the youth program

13.   Perform other duties necessary to fulfill the tasks at hand

Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church is an evangelical independent Bible church with cultural Lutheran roots and a blended worship style.  We are located at the base of the Big Horn mountains in north-central Wyoming in a community of approximately 5200 people.  We are 2 hours from Yellowstone National Park and 3 hours from Billings, MT and Casper, WY.  Zion is a dynamic multi-generational congregation of approximately 500 members (average Sunday attendance is 250-300) that is Christ centered and family oriented.  Zion has a passion for missions, service to all age groups, and a commitment to growing together as followers of Christ.  Our mission is to glorify God in love, worship, and obedience by proclaiming the Gospel, discipling and equipping believers, and taking His Word to the ends of the earth.
