Children's Pastor
Job Description
The Children's Pastor will have primary responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, and running programs for school-age (kindergarten – grade 8) children for the church. This position reports to the Senior Pastor.
Specific responsibilities include:
· Plan activities during the weekly Sunday morning worship service
· Manage all aspects of sports programming for the church in fall, winter, and spring
· Manage all aspects of the summer program from school age children. This includes:
o Plan daily, weekly, and monthly activities
o Be actively involved in working with the children
o Organize field trips on a regular basis
o Manage recruitment, registration, and payment processes
o Hire and train employees as needed
o Develop relationships with children and parents
· Work effectively with church team and with community representatives to support and grow the school age children and sports programs
· Plan regular (monthly) events for children year-round
· Recruit volunteers from the church to assist with events (such as chaperoning on field trips)
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
· Strong faith background
· Interest in and ability to work with school age children
· Strong organizational skills
· Experience planning and organizing events and activities
· A minimum of three years of work experience in ministry
· Interest in sports as an opportunity for ministry
· Strong motivation and the ability to create programs with little oversight
· Ability to work effectively with others
· Must be able to pass a background check
Preferred qualifications:
· A Masters degree in ministry is desired but not required; additional work experience in ministry can substitute for the master’s degree
· Familiarity/comfort with the Nazarene denomination
