Job Description

Church:         Redeeming Hope Church

Position:       Family Ministries Pastor

Location:      Plymouth, Michigan

Reports to:   Senior Pastor

Redeeming Hope Church, meeting in Plymouth, Michigan, is looking to hire a Family Ministries Pastor to serve the growing number of young families God is bringing to our congregation.

We are a newer, independent, non–denominational, Bible–believing, Christ–centered, conservative, Holy Spirit–led, church that God has sovereignly raised up for His own glory and purposes. There is a strong sense among the congregation that the Lord has brought us together “for such a time as this.” Less than a year old, RHC currently meets on Sunday mornings at Ivywood Classical Academy in Plymouth, MI for our Sunday services. We average between 150–200 in attendance in a single 10:00am service, but we intend to go to two services in the Fall of 2022. The Family Ministries Pastor Position is a vital position in our church and this person will work closely with the Senior Pastor, Elders, and other ministry leaders to strategize, develop, and implement ministries for families with children ranging from nursery–age to college–age.

The scope of the position includes:

·     Providing leadership that will build upon the foundation established by our volunteer leaders in Children’s Ministry taking it to the next level.

·     Providing leadership that will build upon the foundation established by our volunteer leaders in Middle School/High School Ministry taking it to the next level.

·     Complete oversight of Sunday morning Children’s Ministry programming as well as Sunday evening Middle School/High School programming.

·     Vision for college–aged and young adults. RHC currently has a group of wonderful, committed, young adults some of whom are college age and others who are young professionals just starting a career. We would love to see leadership provided for the development of ministry to this age group.

·     Serving as a pastoral presence in the church overall.

We are looking for someone who:

·     Loves the Lord, loves His church, and loves to be around young people. He must understand how to work with parents, love children, and love being a part of a new, exciting, adventurous, start–up church where God is blessing in tremendous, unexplainable ways.

·     Has a heart for teenagers as well as young adults.

·     Can build credibility with parents and understands the challenges they are facing in this current environment where “woke” ideology has permeated the schools and sexual deviancy/gender–identity confusion is being continuously promoted to their children throughout the public square.

·     Has a heart for evangelism, discipleship, and is led by the Holy Spirit.

·     Is a visionary builder, rather than a maintainer.

We are looking for someone who can more fully develop and shepherd Family Ministries at Redeeming Hope Church.

This is very much a hands–on position where enthusiastic, visionary leadership is needed in the following areas:

Sunday Morning Children’s Ministry

·     Providing inspiration, leadership, organization, and vision for all early childhood class volunteers (nursery–aged children through elementary–aged children). This includes: communicating with the leaders of the various sections and volunteers within this area of ministry, helping them organize volunteer staff meetings for training and encouragement, helping them with volunteer recruiting, and promoting an environment of teamwork and joy amongst the volunteers.

·     Potentially, as the Lord provides us a more permanent facility in the days ahead, this position may include helping volunteers to begin a Sunday evening AWANA program for children. This is something we would like to see happen, but we will wait on the Lord’s provision in this area.

·     Outside of Sunday mornings, we desire to have someone in this position who loves to provide families periodic opportunities to come together with other families for fellowship in a context of Christian community. We want our families to grow together, learn together, and have FUN together.

Sunday Evening Middle School/High School Ministry

·     This area of ministry will be the primary teaching outlet for the Family Ministries Pastor. The candidate must be able to prepare a weekly message from the Word of God that is Scriptural, practical, helpful, and applicable to the lives of young people. The Gospel is to be central in all preaching and teaching.

·     We are looking for someone who desires to see young people come to know Christ as Savior, be baptized, begin walking as disciples of the Lord, and go boldly into their homes, schools, and neighborhoods with the message of Christ.

·     The candidate must be able to recruit, organize, and empower volunteers to work in this area of ministry with this vital age group.

We are looking for someone who really LOVES teenagers. This will be reflected in a desire to be with teenagers at different times throughout the week. We desire for this person to go to the ball games, recitals, concerts, and other events in the lives of our young people. Communicating with parents will be crucial in this area. As an example, if there’s a high school football game where some of our young people are present, we want you there at that game building relationships with them, their parents, and their friends. We will pay you so that you have the time to do these things.

A candidate should have proficiency and confidence in the following areas:

·     The Word of God and how to apply it to the issues teenagers and their families are facing today.

·     Recruiting, training, equipping and leading volunteer leaders.

·     Helping parents with their children at this stage of life.

·     Listening, consoling, and wisely advising teens and parents in crisis situations.

·     Collaborating in a team environment with fellow Pastors and volunteers.

·     Advanced strategic planning.

·     Budget management.

·     Creating safe, fun, Christ–centered, life–changing opportunities for young people.

Position structure:            This is a full–time ministry position and the compensation will                                                            be commensurate with this status. Salary will be negotiable                                                 based on experience, education, and qualifications. However,                                                  please know that our heart is one of generosity.

Relocation assistance:      Yes. We will help a family relocate to this area for this position.

Education & Experience:

·     We prefer that the candidate have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree. However, certain ministry experiences may override this desire for the right candidate.

·     We are praying for a person who has strong leadership skills. Because of the expansive nature of the position, we are looking for a leader who can raise–up and lead other leaders.

·     We prefer a candidate with strong communication skills in both writing and speaking.

·     We prefer a candidate who is highly relational and visionary.
