Job Description


The position is responsible for supporting the Director with Children, Youth and Family Ministry programming, teaching and activities.  Reports to the Director, Children, Youth and Family Ministries. This a part time position (approximately 28 - 30 hours/ week).


·        Maintains a relationship with Jesus Christ, engaging spiritual disciplines (both personal and corporate)

·        Lives in a manner that exemplifies Christ and seeks purpose and meaning in all aspects of life

·        Models the standards and expectations of Christian leadership, including positivity, professionalism, and confidentiality


·        Be present to greet families and students as they arrive on Sunday, Wednesday, and at various events. 

·        The primary focus of the intern is to help ensure that every child is greeted, encouraged, interacted with, and engaged in any program activity.

·        Support Nursery Staff and Children's Ministry Leaders by preparing and setting up materials for lessons, events, crafts, and activities. 

·        Oversee the ministry of the Nursery under the supervision of the Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Coordinator

·        Communicate weekly with Kid’s Ministry Leaders

·        Acts as an Assistant Teacher at the London Bridge program on Friday mornings

·        Understands and adheres to Safe Sanctuary policies.


Other Responsibilities

·        Recognized as a leader, in alignment with and supportive of the purpose and core values of The Well

·        Work alongside the Children, Youth and Family Ministry Director to Ensure that all Nursery Staff and Kid’s Ministry Volunteers are trained in Safe Sanctuary practices

·        Within budgetary guidelines, maintain supplies for crafts, snacks and equipment replacement for Nursery Ministry and Kid’s Ministry programming and events.  

·        Establish a schedule for routine cleaning of toys and equipment

·        Provide inspirational/motivational notes, thank you gifts to child care staff

o  Work to maintain/ update the Nursery Space and Mother’s Room Space with the direction of the Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Director.

·        Kids Church Specifications:

o  Send weekly email updates to Kid’s Ministry Volunteers

o  Maintain organization of the Kid’s Ministry Curriculum, ensuring every Sunday all Kid’s Ministry Leaders have the supplies they need.

Nursery Ministry Specifications:

o  Recruit, train and supervise all nursery staff so as to provide nursery care for all worship services, Wednesday evening activities, Parent’s Night Out, Parent’s Morning Out, and other events.

o  Create and distribute a monthly schedule and communication for Nursery Staff

o  Work alongside the Children, Youth, and Family Ministry Director to Provide an annual training of all Nursery Ministry staff

o  Train new hires

o  Calendar all nursery events with the Building Coordinator

o  Arrange for online sign ups and fee collection for nursery events such as Parents’ Morning Out (PMO) and Parents Night Out (PNO)

·        Provide support to the London Bridge program as an Assistant Teacher on Friday mornings.

Rate of compensation will be based on:

·        Experience

·        Education

·        Work agreement of hours/ week commitment


·        Health Insurance – ineligible

·        Holidays – per HR guidelines

·        FLSA – Non-exempt

·        United Methodist background is not required but the successful candidate must be in agreement with the standards, theology, and policies of The United Methodist Church
