Position Summary & Responsibilities: The Director provides leadership and oversight to the operational, administrative, and business functions of the church. The general areas of responsibility are accounting, finance, clergy support, donor management, human resources, employee benefits, purchasing, building and grounds, and information technology. In addition to providing leadership to the church staff generally, the incumbent directly supervises the administrative and facilities staff. This position chairs the Building & Grounds Committee and participates in the Finance Committee meetings. An important part of the job is maintaining positive working relationships and communication with the clergy, staff, Vestry, parishioners, vendors, and visitors of the church while supporting the vision, mission, ministry and core values of Christ Church Denver.


Essential Knowledge and Skills


·        Ability to negotiate and otherwise deal with vendors and contractors

·        Strong background in HR related issues and topics

·        Familiarity with IRS regulations, particularly pertaining to charitable contributions and other issues related to church and nonprofit organizations

·        Strong understanding of accounting and finance related issues

·        Strong understanding and experience with budget processes

·        Strong proficiency with computers, administrative software, and other current technology

·        Strong understanding of business and financial practices

·        Strong people skills

·        Strong organizational and administrative skills

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·        Ability to prioritize multiple projects and activities while meeting deadlines

·        Flexibility and ability to adapt to change, unexpected demands, and interruptions

·        Personal initiative; creativity; and innovative thinking

·        Strong attention to detail

·        Excellent keyboard skills

·        Confidential approach in all personnel and financial matters

Education or Formal Training:

·        Minimum of five years’ business experience preferred

·        Minimum of three years’ experience in accounting or finance preferred

·        Some relevant experience at a church or nonprofit organization preferred

·        Bachelor’s Degree preferred

$55,000 - $95,000
