Job Responsibilities

As directed by the Church Board (CB), provide administrative and spiritual leadership to the Church, to assist the church family in the ongoing development of their unique ministry.

The Pastor shall seek the counsel and assistance of fellow staff members, appropriate officers, and/or board and committee members, in developing, formulating and promoting the plans and projects of the Church.

Ministry duties listed below are “as directed by the CB”, and in congruence with the number of job hours stated in the employment contract. Funerals, weddings and other occasional ministry needs will be compensated according to terms of the contract.


Lead and/or coordinate the leadership of weekly and special service worship planning

Plan, prepare, and preach Biblical sermons

Administer the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

Conduct funeral services and wedding ceremonies in compliance with church practices

Pastoral Care

Perform in-home, nursing home, hospital, hospice, and prison visitation

Perform pastoral counseling, providing referrals as needed

Attend church family fellowship events


Plan and coordinate discipleship and leadership growth opportunities

Lead Bible studies and prayer groups as directed by the CB


Work toward unity in the church as a witness for Christ

Lead and/or cooperate in evangelistic efforts in the community

Maintain and foster healthy relationships with area churches

Responsibly support the ABC Dakotas region and the greater community


Oversee the daily church administrative functions

Coordinate and supervise the work of all Church Staff members

Serve as ex-officio member of church boards and committees

Attend conventions and conferences as directed by the CB


Bachelor's degree and some experience in ministry preferred.

Total Membership: 20 -15 active, 5 shut ins 

Average attendance for Sunday morning worship: 20-22

Staff serving the church: part-time office staff, and volunteer

Annual Budget: $ 51,958.75

10% of the church’s offerings is taken quarterly from the overall annual budget, that goes to missions. Breakdown 4% ABCD, 4% to a designated mission, 2% Retired Ministers and Missionaries.

We offer a blended service and is not subject to change.

We offer Sunday School, children’s Church during service, life groups every 1st and third Sunday. Wednesday and Friday Evening Bible Studies.

Church Deacons use Benevolent Funds to serve community. Currently no ministry set to minister to poor. We started doing online saturations of pastor led materials. Was starting to see growth.

Our Bible study groups, life group, and Sunday school classes are where we are most blessed.

We as a church affirm women in leadership, though reserve the pastor position for men. 

We are a strong congregational governed body that elected to have one unified board serve the church instead of the three previous governing boards.

Greatest strengths of the church. Our ability to work together to serve others. A board slate that is focused on safeguarding the church and edifying its members in leadership roles. A board that is dedicated to fulfilling their office and to promote FBC and Christian Ministries. Dedicated to Biblical Standards set forth for us to govern the Church. Centered on Christ. Ability to speak Truth in a world of misinformation.

Greatest Challenges for the church. Overcoming low membership because of misdeeds of previous leaders that spread division. Changing the narrative being spun by inactive members in the community.

A quorum is half of its members plus one to conduct church business. 

¾ of active membership needed to pass congregational legislation. 

Housing allowance is Based on a percentage of the overall $30,000 package for the candidate. Candidate can choose how much goes to housing allowance over payout in wages. Every two weeks payment.

¼ of our members have Native American ancestry. We have gained more Native American attenders in recent months. Predominantly Caucasian congregation.
