The Pastor provides inspiration, leadership, and vision as our church continues to grow in Christ. On Sunday mornings the Pastor’s primary role will be to welcome all in attendance, to lead the congregation and visitors with Bible-based messages that proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as to provoke thought and the challenge for those in attendance to be more like Jesus. The Pastor will also take advantage of opportunities to lead/teach in Sunday school classes as well as through Bible studies and small groups that may also take place during any given week. The Pastor should be able to lead in the spiritual health, continued ministry development, and direction of our church with the advisory oversight of those who make up our Diaconate Board. The Pastor will provide for the development and leading of vision that will require working with the key committees and individuals of our church. Our new pastor should be a “motivator” of sorts, who will continually encourage our people to grow spiritually, to seek out and engage in ministry serving opportunities, and to work towards fulfilling Christ’s command to the church to “go and make disciples.”
The “preferred” qualifications for the candidate may include: • A degree from at least a Bible college, and ideally a degree from a theological seminary or divinity school that has a demonstrated conservative commitment to the Word of God • Our new pastor will have five (5) years minimum experience in leading a small to medium-sized church • He should be a “proven” communicator of God’s Word which is demonstrated through a history of delivering Biblical, expositional, and impactful messages that are understandable to those “new” to the faith, and relevant and insightful to those who are more “mature” in their Christian walk • Strong interpersonal skills with a heart for people both on the inside of our church as well as for the people in the community around our church • He should be committed to continued personal growth as a pastor and leader • He should be willing to make at least a 5-year commitment to serve as the pastor of our church

The mission of FBC is to encourage people to know, follow and love Jesus.
We stand firm on the Word of God as we seek to “be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). Our missions serve the community of Waverly through various community service projects and youth events. Our K-5th grade Kidz Klub,6th-8th grade Youth Group, and 9th-12th grade Teen Life groups meet weekly at the church and average a total of 120 students in attendance. Our church becomes a lively place as students are fed spiritually and physically each week, in addition to Biblically based lessons and activities. We also have adult and youth small groups that meet on Sundays. This mission minded focus extends to yearly summer mission trips with youth from our community and surrounding communities participating. Over the past several years, an average of 45 youth and adults have traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Knoxville, Tennessee to serve the local communities. Our church also serves the In His Hands Orphan Outreach Project in Haiti and Hope Orphan Home in Sierra Leone across the globe.
Waverly First Baptist Church is respected in the community and welcoming to all who enter our doors. We strive to create a culture that is comfortable and inviting, while remaining firm on the Word of God.
