Leadership is one of those pinnacle topics that everyone has their hands on. It doesn't matter where you work, what you do or where you plan on going in life—we all lead something. The real question is: How great of a leader are you? Over my last eight years of ministry, I have had the opportunity to be in various roles and under the leadership of some incredible people. Although I don't know everything, I believe these 11 points are imperative for anyone looking to develop great leadership. Write these down! 1. You will never know everything. 2. Never turn down an opportunity to learn. 3. People should always be put above procedure. 4. Your mistakes are learning opportunities. 5. Leadership begins when I can let go of myself and allow God to lead through me. 6. Integrity carries more weight than my gifting. 7. The day you stop learning is the day you should stop leading. 8. You can always learn from the people around you. 9. It is vital for you to have older/wiser accountability. (Someone who's been doing this longer than you.) 10. The way you respond to destruction carries more weight than the way you respond to victory. 11. The way you live your everyday life is just as important as the way you lead a group or team. "Leadership and learning are indispensable to one another." —John F. Kennedy I hope these values pierce your heart the way they have pierced mine. These are not the only values necessary for the life of a leader, but I believe the are definitely a good start.
