Bi-Vocational Pastor Job Description
We’re a small church, so this is a hands-on role. Here’s what you can expect:
Lead the church spiritually through preaching, teaching, discipleship, and prayer
Create a culture of grace, unity, and spiritual growth where people feel like they truly belong
Provide pastoral care—walking with people through life’s ups and downs with empathy and
presence
Lead and encourage local outreach and evangelism to help us connect with the wider
community and share Christ’s love
Help equip leaders and volunteers to serve effectively and grow in their faith
Occasionally help arrange pulpit supply if you’re unavailable to preach
Sunday School teaching is optional but welcomed if you’re passionate about it
Participate in board meetings as Chair
Help guide the church in setting goals and direction for the future
Participate in an annual review to reflect, celebrate, and look ahead
Approx. 20–25 hours per week of ministry time (flexible and open to discussion)

A pastor’s heart—compassionate, relational, and eager to build meaningful connections with
people from all walks of life
A love for Scripture and the ability to teach it clearly and compellingly, helping others grow in faith
Strong communication and relational skills—able to connect with both younger and older
generations
A collaborative spirit that enjoys working with leadership and volunteers to build unity and
momentum
A commitment to prayer and spiritual formation, with the desire to model that in everyday life
A love for small church ministry—embracing both its challenges and its opportunities for deep
relationships and impactful service
A passion for evangelism and outreach—both locally and beyond the church walls
All applicants must be in agreement with the articles of faith and practice of the Missionary Church USA and must be able to be credentialed by the Missionary Church.
