Campus Preaching Pastor Job Description
The primary purpose of the Campus Preaching Pastor is to support, encourage, and implement Faith Covenant Church’s philosophy of ministry that focuses on discipling people of all ages in the context of a newly established campus location. This location presents exciting opportunities to engage an unreached and diverse area of south Saint Petersburg, Florida.
We desire to help people look more like Jesus every day in every way and this pastoral position is an integral part of fulfilling this vision both in the congregation and in our community. This position is designed to help us grow in our six priorities (church values): the centrality of God’s Word, intentional relationships, a biblical group image, an atmosphere of love, a right concept of Christ and prayerful dependence.
This Pastoral position plays an integral role in the overall leadership and health of the church. Faith Covenant Church (FCC) is looking for a seasoned candidate with a heart for discipleship and a passion for preaching, with the goal of raising up and supporting volunteer leaders both in their personal walk with Christ and in ministry. As a new campus, preaching, counseling, mentoring, and shepherding to all members and guests are important responsibilities that will be expected of this role.
I. Staffing (Create and Coach Teams):
· Recruit, screen, train, and shepherd leaders for all adult ministries programming, including but not limited to Small Groups, Serving Engagement, and positions related to executing Sunday morning services.
· Encourage and require Campus staff/volunteers to acquire resources and ministry assistance from main campus directors (worship, children, missions, membership, etc.). See Collaboration.
II. Collaboration:
· Work closely with main campus leadership to be resourced and for assistance in equipping Campus leadership (student ministries, adult ministries, children’s ministry, etc.)
· Work with main campus leadership for future Church Planting efforts
· Utilize centralized resources relating to IT, database, planning center, membership, etc. This includes shared software and personnel.
III. Assimilation and Mobilization:
· Build a team or partner with main campus to help every man, woman and child know their spiritual gift and where that gift could be used both inside the body and outside the walls of FCC.
· Work together with main campus to raise the urgency, awareness, and skills needed for the saturation of the Gospel in our community
· Engage with local pastors when opportunities arise, seeking ways to encourage gospel saturation mindset and resource discipleship in all churches of Pinellas County.
· Help Campus congregants feel welcomed, connect them to small groups, and help new members fulfill four major roles of membership (presence, small groups, serving, and giving)
IV. Staff Membership:
· Attend and participate in main campus pastoral staff, church council, and congregational business meetings as directed by Senior/Lead Pastor.
· You will fully be part of main campus staff until the new campus is launched.
· Establish Campus elder leadership and congregational business meetings.
· Learn heart and vision of FCC during first year on staff while engaging with main campus congregation as part of pastoral team.
· Prepare written reports for all quarterly and annual congregational business meetings.
· Work closely with pastoral staff in developing and executing preaching calendars for the year.
· Oversee Campus Sunday morning worship services, including a plan to preach approximately 40 times per year.
· Be available for pastoral visitation, pre-marital counseling, weddings, and funerals.
· Fully support FCC pastors and church programs, believing the best and pursuing unity.
· Know which matters are of a sensitive nature and keeping them totally confidential, erring on the side of caution and discretion.
V. Financial:
· Working with Campus leaders and elders, submit an annual, detailed proposed budget for Campus staff and your other areas of oversight to main campus Senior/Lead Pastor.
· Monitor spending within approved budget, maintaining expenditures in line with the adopted budget.
Qualifications
· Must be a born-again believer with a maturing relationship with Jesus Christ.
· Must meet the qualifications set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
· Must agree and affirm FCC’s Statement of Faith (fccstpete.com/who-we-are).
· Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited Christian college or university
· Must possess strong organizational abilities, time management, and administrative abilities, preferably through delegating and equipping the saints.
· Must be able to exercise initiative and judgment as an independent worker.
· Must have solid verbal, written, conflict management and computer skills.
· Must understand and model the value of “doing life together.”
· Willingness to work a flexible schedule that meets the needs of those to whom they shepherd
· The Campus Preaching Pastor shall maintain his credentials and attend all necessary ministry conferences.
· The Campus Preaching Pastor must be a lifelong learner, staying current in emerging trends through professional reading, development, conferences...thinking bigger than the church.
