The Human Resources department of a church or organization is responsible for all areas of human resources such as recruiting, hiring, payroll, benefits, and employee relations. The Human Resources department reviews and makes recommendations to the Senior Pastor or Executive Pastor regarding improvement of policies and practices regarding personnel issues. A Human Resources professional works to ensure compliance with employment legislation and consults with legal counsel when appropriate about personnel matters. The Human Resources department also assists the Senior Pastor or Executive Pastor in the annual review, preparation, and administration of the wage and salary program. The person who fills a job in the Human Resources department must have the highest integrity and professionalism with demonstrated success in the area of Human Resources.
