Children's Pastor Job Description
I. Staff Minister:
A. Embrace the FVCN philosophy, vision and mission as defined by leadership.
B. Participate in a connect group associated with FVCN and its mission.
C. Pastor your ministry area through visitation, calls, and follow-up.
D. Provide pastoral care and exhibit genuine Biblical accountability to those in your ministry purview.
E. Recruit, train and deploy lay persons into your ministry areas.
F. Participate in scheduled staff meetings.
G. Assist the Pastoral staff with any miscellaneous roles as assigned by the Executive Pastor.
H. Achieve professional growth through continuing education, appropriate conferences, retreats and research.
II. Director of Children’s Ministries
A. Plan Kid’s in the Village - Weekly Worship Service
1.Create and communicate OOS (Order of Service) Containing music, teaching, games, social space, small group time, etc.
2.Research and develop curriculum that is relevant to the age group.
3.Develop small group discussion questions/activities.
4.Develop relevant corporate worship (music/singing, dancing, etc.)
5.Research group games, upfront games, team building exercises, etc.)
6.Benchmark churches that are comparable in size and churches that are larger to research common practices that will promote growth within your ministry.
B. Recruit and Lead Volunteers
1.Cast a vision to high caliber volunteers that entice them to serve Jesus in children’s ministries
2.Ensure all volunteers have current background checks on file.
3.Maintain a minimum of 2 volunteer group leaders per small group.
4.Recruit volunteers to run different parts of the service (i.e. game leader, worship leader, etc.)
5.Meet with volunteers weekly before each service to discuss the service and upcoming events.
6.Give small group leaders the scripture and discussion questions mid-week so they have time to prepare to lead their small group.
7.Keep volunteers informed of upcoming events through weekly emails.
8.Give volunteers often a platform to voice concerns and suggestions.
C. Plan and Execute events
1.Strategically plan event that are outreach oriented.
2.Keep events planned out 18 months in advance.
3.Coordinate with the family ministries admin to get events on the church calendar.
4.Coordinate with the communications director to promote and advertise events.
5.Create budgets to manage cost.
6.Recruit adult volunteers for each event.
7.Ensure all participants have signed a medical release form BEFORE any event.
8.Recruit a Director that you will oversee and train for Splashfest - Plan the week’s schedule and events - Recruit volunteers - Order supplies/giveaways - Recruit band/speaker - Create registration process
D. Implement and maintain a process of assimilation and care.
1.Ensure connection with new students and their families
2.Ensure that students that have been absent do not go unnoticed.
3.Bring students and leaders into the assimilation care process through the New Here Family ministry.
4.Visit volunteers and students in emergency situations or hospital
5.Contact people in this age group that have been absent for 3,6, or 9 weeks.
6.Contact people in the age group when they have visited 1,3, and 6 times.
III. Upward Sports Liaison
A. Coordinate with the church calendar, facilities, and tech.
1.Schedule evaluation days and training sessions
2.Schedule games and practices
3.Schedule closing ceremonies
B. Coordinate with the church communications team
1.Schedule website registration with Force Pay
C. Order Supplies
1.Jerseys
2.Coach Shirts
3.Balls
IV. Tiny Town Coordinator
A. Coordinate and Oversee the Nursery (Birth through Age 5) in Children’s Ministry.
1.Recruit and coordinate leaders for the nursery areas
2.Help leaders recruit and coordinate volunteers for Nursery on Sundays
3.Maintain monthly nursery schedule
4.Send out reminder emails/calls weekly for volunteers scheduled
5.Train and give orientation to new volunteers
6.Oversee communication to parents and volunteer within the nursery
7.Oversee Nursery Move-Up in the Fall
V. Participate in Team and Staff Events
A. Easter Egg Hunt and Other All-Staff Events
1.Organize specific area of the event as assigned by the event leader
2.Recruit volunteers
3.Oversee operation of event
4.Order supplies as needed
Qualifications
Experience:
- 1-3 Years Experience Leading Children's Ministry
- Ability to recruit and equip volunteers and leaders
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Ministry Related Field Preferred
