Members of the Executive Team (Executive Ministries Pastor, Executive Operations Director, Executive Teaching Pastor, Executive School Director) are expected to work in concert with their peers and subordinates to cultivate and maintain a collaborative and deep relational culture, guided by the Elder Board to implement the vision and mission of Southeast. All decisions are made after prayer and hearing from God and through the confirmation of others.
Position Overview
The Executive Teaching Pastor is responsible for shaping the church’s teaching, theology, culture, and strategic direction. This role will oversee the development and delivery of sermon series, guide staff development, and ensure alignment with the church’s mission and doctrinal foundation. As a member of the Executive Team, the Executive Teaching Pastor will contribute to key decisions related to church governance, theology, and culture. This role will supervise the staff within the Creative team, which consists of the Production, Communications, Worship, and Online Campus ministries.
Key Accountabilities
- Staff Leadership and Oversight:
o Lead and facilitate regular staff meetings to ensure alignment, spiritual growth, and effective communication across all ministries.
o Foster and cultivate a healthy and Christ-centered staff and church culture.
o Oversee and ensure adherence to church theology, ensuring all teaching and ministry practices align with scriptural principles and the church’s doctrinal stance.
o Develop and implement individualized staff development plans for department staff to foster professional growth and excellence.
- Preaching and Teaching:
o Develop the sermon schedule, including topics, themes, and series in alignment with the church’s vision and calendar.
o Serve as a primary preacher and teacher, providing impactful, biblical, and relevant messages.
o Mentor and develop a team of teachers and preachers to expand the church’s teaching capacity.
o Coordinate speakers and preaching schedules to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
- Weekend Worship Experience:
o Oversee the planning and execution of the weekend worship experience, ensuring it is engaging, meaningful, and spiritually enriching.
o Collaborate with the worship, production, and communication teams to create cohesive and impactful worship services.
o Ensure excellence in all aspects of production, from sound and lighting to visuals and stage design.
- Departmental Leadership:
o Provide strategic oversight to the following ministry areas:
§ Production: Ensure the technical elements of services and events are executed with excellence.
§ Worship: Partner with worship staff to create an environment that draws people into the presence of God.
§ Communications: Direct messaging and outreach strategies, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission and vision.
§ Online Campus: Lead the development of the online campus to reach a broader audience with impactful digital experiences.
§ Creative as a whole: Encourage innovative approaches to ministry, ensuring content and experiences resonate with diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute plans aligned with church mission, vision and values.
- Budget Management: Oversee ministry budgets in partnership with the finance team.
- Theological Alignment: Guide ministry teams to align with church theology.
- Program Review: Evaluate and improve ministry programs for goal alignment.
- Mission Integration: Promote and embed the church’s mission, vision, and values.
- Connections Class: Assist with teaching the Connections Class to welcome and integrate new attendees into the church community.
- Lobby Experience: Enhance lobby interactions and environments tied to sermon themes.
- Staff Benefits: Collaborate with Executive Team and HR to develop and implement a comprehensive benefits package for staff.

- Prayer Ministry: Work with Prayer team to ensure communication and inclusion for weekend services.

Time Requirements
This position will be completed in 40+ hours per week. Standard hours are Sunday through Thursday, with hours in evenings, off days, and holidays expected.

This job operates in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, desktop computers and telephones.

Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in ministry related field. A seminary degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g., Theology, Divinity).
- Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of leadership experience in churches whose theology and doctrine align with that of Southeast Christian Church.
- Preaching & Teaching: Minimum of 10+ years of preaching and teaching experience, including sermon series development and delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Agreement with Church Governance & Doctrine: Must agree to abide by the constitution and bylaws of Southeast Christian Church, including the vision, mission, values, and statement of faith. Must also understand church governance to assist in any updates or modifications.
- Commitment to Christ: Must be a believer in Jesus Christ and his instructions for Christian living.
- Plurality of Leadership: Must agree to and understand that the plurality of leadership model means key decisions impacting theology, doctrine, or culture are made jointly by the executive team through consensus.
- Biblical Leadership: Understands and can articulate biblical leadership as described in the New Testament.
