Job Description

Job Summary: 

The role of the pastor includes preaching, administration of the sacraments, pastoral visits, general counseling, church education, teaching, attendance at church meetings and participating in the organizational and social life of the church.  The Senior Pastor should be a leader of the church.  


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging, biblically based weekly sermons during worship services as well as on special occasions and events.  
  • Administration of the sacraments.  
  • Provide pastoral care for members of the congregation, including visiting the sick, counseling those in need, and offering support during times of crisis.  
  • Facilitate and encourage spiritual growth and discipleship by overseeing the development and implementation of Bible studies and other educational programs.  
  •   Attend Church Council and appropriate Board meetings, serving as an ex-officio member, in an advisory capacity, without vote.  
  • Work with church leadership and staff to establish and execute a vision and strategic plan for the church’s growth and leadership development.  
  •    Participate in the organizational and social life of the church.  
  •    Engage and build relationships within the local community, participating in outreach and mission activities, and collaborating with other organization to address community needs.  
  •    Submission of a written report to the congregation at the annual meeting.  
  • Oversee the administration and management of church operations, including personnel management.  Mentor, supervise and support church staff.  
  • All other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • A deep commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 
  • Good standing within a recognized Christian denomination.
  • A minimum of 3 years of pastoral experience, with a proven track record of effective leadership, ministry development, and community outreach.  
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to connect with a diverse congregation and adapt to various ministry contexts.  
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for empowering others and fostering a collaborative team-oriented environment.  
  • A deep understanding of and a commitment to the Bible.  
  • A heart for pastoral care and the ability to provide compassionate and empathetic support to congregation members during times of need. 
  • Schedule to include office hours, weekly church services, and other ministerial duties

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Biblical studies, theology, or similar area of study from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
