U.S. Army Chaplain Candidate Job Description
The Chaplain Candidate Program (CHCP) is a Department of the Army recruiting, training, and education program for prospective chaplains to fill projected vacancies in the Regular Army and the Army Reserve. Cadets selected for the Chaplain Candidate Program (CCP) serve as chaplain candidates in an Army Reserve unit while completing their academic and ministerial training. To qualify as an Army Chaplain, you must possess a baccalaureate degree and a graduate degree in theological or religious studies.
Qualifications
Similar to a chaplain in training who is pursuing their master’s degree.
a. Reserve Component only.
b. Must have Undergraduate degree and be accepted in a seminary.
c. GPA > 2.50. Waiverable.
d. Age < 36. Waiverable up to around age 41.
