Worship and Youth Leader Job Description
The Worship and Youth Pastor will serve as a key member of our ministry team, helping lead our church family in heartfelt worship and in guiding the next generation to know and follow Jesus. This position blends spiritual leadership, creativity, and relational ministry.
Primary Responsibilities
- Worship Ministry
- Plan and lead weekly worship services that invite the congregation into genuine, Spirit-led worship.
- Select and prepare music that aligns with the message and overall direction of the service.
- Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer musicians, vocalists, and tech team members.
- Oversee sound, media, and presentation for Sunday services.
- Encourage a culture of excellence and humility in worship.
- Youth Ministry
- Lead and disciple students (grades 6–12) through weekly gatherings, Bible studies, and small groups.
- Build relationships with students and families through regular communication and personal connection.
- Plan and coordinate youth activities, retreats, and outreach events that help students grow spiritually and relationally.
- Partner with parents to encourage faith development at home.
- Raise up and mentor adult volunteers to serve alongside the youth ministry.
General Duties & Expectations
- Maintain a consistent devotional and prayer life that fuels ministry.
- Work closely with the Lead Pastor in planning services, ministry events, and spiritual direction.
- Participate in staff meetings, church events, and community outreach.
- Be a visible and approachable leader within the church body.
- Help create a welcoming atmosphere for all generations in worship and fellowship.
- Carry out additional ministry-related tasks as needed in a small-church team setting.
Weekly Rhythm (Example) (You will be able to have another Job outside of this position)
- Sunday: Lead worship, connect with congregation and youth, assist in service flow.
- Midweek: Youth group gathering, team practice or worship rehearsal, community or pastoral involvement.
- Throughout the Week: Message and music preparation, communication with volunteers, relational follow-up with youth and families.
Qualifications
Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ – Demonstrates a growing, Spirit-led walk with God, grounded in prayer, Scripture, and integrity of life.
Spiritual Maturity & Calling – Clearly called to ministry, with a passion for leading others in worship and discipling the next generation.
Musical & Technical Proficiency – Able to vocally or instrumentally lead worship with skill and confidence; familiar with worship technology (sound, media, presentation software).
Biblical Understanding & Teaching Ability – Capable of communicating God’s Word clearly and creatively to both youth and adults.
Leadership & Team Building – Skilled at recruiting, training, and encouraging volunteers; fosters unity and spiritual growth within teams.
Relational Skills – Connects well with people of all ages; approachable, compassionate, and patient in ministry relationships.
Work Ethic & Flexibility – Self-motivated, organized, and able to serve in multiple ministry areas typical of a smaller church.
Education & Experience – Formal ministry training or relevant experience preferred, but not required. A teachable heart and willingness to grow are essential.
Alignment with Church Vision – Supports the mission, values, and leadership of the church; committed to serving as part of a unified pastoral team.
