Job Overview:

Sanford Federal is looking to hire a qualified pianist/organist for the Catholic Mass and Protestant Worship services which meet at the Post Chapel, Fort Hamilton, 219 Grimes Road, Brooklyn, NY 11252. To coordinate with the responsible Fort Hamilton NY (FHNY) Garrison Chaplain or the FHNY Religious Support Office (RSO) Non-commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) to play the organ or piano for 1x weekly Catholic Mass, 1x weekly Protestant service, 1x weekly (1-hr) rehearsal, Christmas Eve Protestant service, Christmas Day Catholic Mass, Ash Wednesday Service, Good Friday Catholic Mass, Good Friday Protestant Service, and the ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service.

Schedule / Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Contractor shall provide the required services as indicated:

a. 0930-1030: Sunday Mass

b. 1100-1230: Sunday Protestant Services

c. Holiday Services Named in Para 1: coordinated with the Garrison Chaplain or the RSO NCOIC

d. Weekly 1-hr Rehearsals: coordinated with the Garrison Chaplain or RSO NCOIC in conjunction with the Chaplain of the Protestant service and the Catholic lay representative.

e. Payment for services rendered is not based upon time spent, but rather upon the service/rehearsal.

f. The Contractor will coordinate music with the Garrison Chaplain or the RSO NCOIC.

Key Responsibilities:

·      Play the organ or piano for:

Ø 1x weekly Catholic Mass

Ø 1x weekly Protestant Service

Ø 1x weekly rehearsal (1 hour)

Ø Christmas Eve Protestant Service

Ø Christmas Day Catholic Mass

Ø Ash Wednesday Service

Ø Good Friday Catholic Mass

Ø Good Friday Protestant Service

Ø Ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service

·      Coordinate music selection with the Garrison Chaplain or the Religious Support Office (RSO) Non-commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC)

·      Arrive at least 15 minutes before each worship service or rehearsal!

·      Dress appropriately for worship services (slacks and button-down shirt/blouse preferred)

·      Maintain a log of work performed monthly.

·      Obtain approval before performing any services not outlined in this contract.

·      Comply with all Anti-Terrorism (AT) and Operational Security (OPSEC) requirements.

·      Be a US Citizen and undergo a background check.

Qualifications :

·      Skilled pianist and/or organist

·      Experience playing sacred music.

·      Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·      Reliable transportation

·      Ability to maintain confidentiality.

·      US Citizenship.
