We are looking for someone who is passionate for God, loves Middle and High School students, wants to see them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, and equip and empower them to impact their world with the hope of the Gospel. The Ascent Church is a growing and thriving church geographically positioned right between a middle school and a high school - so the church campus itself is positioned for tremendous impact. We need a leader who is ready for the challenge of a growing church and a thriving student ministry averaging 50-70 students weekly.


Job Title: Youth Ministry Director or Pastor: Ascent Student Ministry


Pay Type: Salaried Hours: 40 per week


Reports to: Executive Pastor or Lead Pastor


Supervisory Role to (As needed): Assistant Director of Student Ministries or Interns

*Qualified volunteers may fulfill this role


1. Ascent Students Staff Development, Planning, Communication & Pastoral Support

· Oversee Youth Ministry (YM) staff structure and roles

· Meet with Executive Pastor/Lead Pastor weekly or needed

· Plan and run weekly YM Team meetings when needed

· Attend and participate in all-staff meetings

· Maintain ongoing communication with YM staff, pastoral staff and other department leads

· Communicate with IT department lead for all computer and software needs

· Communicate with Facilities department lead for facilities repairs, cleaning and updates

· Communicate with Children's Ministry & Student Ministries Staff for continuity with mid-week scheduling of classes, transition of pre-teen / middle school students, and support for special events

· Coordinate with communication director for promotion of Ascent Students classes, events and programs

· Register, attend and create follow-up opportunities for professional development seminars, classes & conferences

2. Supervisory Roles – Student Ministries Team & Volunteers

3. Administrative Roles – Staffing, Budget Plans, Create Strategic Plans

4. Leader/Volunteer Recruitment & Development

5. Volunteer Communication, Scheduling & Relationship Building

6. Parent Communication

7. Student Sunday Programming

8. Mid-Week Student Ministries Programming

9. Ascent Students Classes: Intro to Baptism, Catch the Vision, etc.

10. Attend and Support Special Events – Fall Festival, Students' Summer Camps, etc.

11. Marketing, Graphic Design & Social Media

12. Plan and oversee Student Ministry retreats and mission trips

13. Other Duties as Assigned


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to lead students, equip and empower leaders and make disciples in both small and large settings.
  • Proven ability to work with parents and families and communicate well in a variety of settings, especially in times of conflict and crisis.
