Job Description

Summary: Children’s Minister is responsible for the pastoring of children and their families through the implementation of ministry strategies that inspire wonder about God and builds a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime. Nursery through Fifth Grade.



Responsibilities:


Define and cast a vision for a vibrant Children’s Ministry that will allow kids to experience God, not just learn about Him, in a relevant and relational way.


Develop a dynamic team of volunteers through recruitment, training, provision of resources and appreciation strategies.


Choose or develop curriculum for Sunday School and Wednesday Night programming.

Plan, organize, staff and coordinate engaging summer programs for including, but not limited to, Vacation Bible School and Music Camp. 


Provide oversight and planning for all aspects of specialized Children’s programming including but not limited to:

a.      Outreach events

b.      Parent Sunday

c.      Promotion Sunday

d.      Children’s Sunday

e.      Mission Projects


Provide oversight to Children’s Ministry budget and help develop the budgetary needs for upcoming years. 


Work as a team player with the rest of the ministerial staff and support staff. This includes making every effort to attend staff functions: meetings, retreats, planning sessions etc…


Use effective modes of communication including Facebook, mailings, and Faith Life, etc…to keep families engaged and informed of current programs, projects, and opportunities.


Share in ministerial responsibilities such as hospital visits and home visits, assigned events and preaching.


Prepare to teach a Sunday School class, Children’s Church or both as well as assist with Wednesday Night Activities. 


Attend monthly NGUMC Children’s Minister Meetings

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ as evidenced by spiritual maturity and a close consistent walk with Christ. 

Love kids and their families.

Demonstrate strong conflict management and public relations skills

Demonstrate strong organizational skills for planning and database.

Available to work on Wednesdays, Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings as needed. 


Preferred Qualifications:


Degree in Education or Related Field

Experience working with children in church, school, or camp environment.
