Position Overview

Wilson Chapel Christian Union Church is seeking a dedicated and Spirit-led Senior Pastor to serve as the spiritual leader of our congregation. We are a close-knit rural church community committed to growing in faith, serving others, and advancing the mission of Christ.

The ideal candidate will provide biblical leadership, shepherd our congregation, and help guide ministry efforts both within the church and in the surrounding community.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and preach at weekly Sunday worship services
• Provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to the congregation
• Conduct hospital and home visitations for those in need
• Officiate weddings and funerals (at pastor’s discretion)
• Offer pastoral counseling and guidance
• Support and participate in youth ministry activities
• Plan, develop, and lead outreach initiatives
• Attend Leadership Team meetings
• Attend Christian Education Board meetings
• Attend Annual State Council meetings

Work Expectations

This is a full-time position, with an expected workload of approximately 40 hours per week, including sermon preparation and ministry responsibilities. Availability for emergencies and pastoral care needs outside regular hours is expected. Flexibility to balance ministry duties with personal and family time is encouraged.

Additional Expectations

• Pastor is responsible for personal income taxes and securing health insurance
• If absent (outside of vacation), pastor will arrange and compensate a guest speaker
• Open communication and collaboration with church leadership is expected
• Participation in periodic reviews of compensation and responsibilities
